The COVID-19 coronavirus is still on the minds of many people these days. We're doing our part to take precautionary measures to ensure the health and well-being of our patients and staff.
There are common non-contagious/non-serious upper respiratory symptoms that some of our patients present with such as allergies, asthma or a lingering cough following a cold, and we will continue to treat these conditions as they do not pose a risk to others.
Masks are optional, however, please mask up if you have ANY symptoms of illness. We care for each other!

Here are the measures we are taking at Wailuku Community Acupuncture. We appreciate everyone's participation and understanding:
- If you have a fever or flu-like symptoms, or vomiting or diarrhea, please stay home. The main symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, coughing and shortness of breath. Call your primary care physician if you're in need of medical attention for these concerns.
- Please bring in your own proper fitting face mask IF YOU ARE SICK. Be prepared to wear your properly fitted mask over your entire face the entire treatment time if you have any symptoms of illness. This helps prevent any possible spread of germs and also will help alleviate concerns from others sharing the space. We have a few masks here for sale $2.00, but they are NOT N95 rated, they are only intended to prevent droplets from spreading. Please remember that not all coughs are contagious. People can have chronic coughing from asthma, allergies, general dryness, and other conditions.
- Please use hand sanitizer placed on the reception area front desk when you check in at the front desk, or wash your hands in the bathroom if you prefer that to hand sanitizer, in order to help prevent the spread of germs. When washing your hands, please wash for at least 20 second.
- We'll be regularly sanitizing surfaces that are frequently touched such as arm rests, etc.
- We use alcohol-based hand sanitizers and alcohol swipes to disinfect our point locations as well as follow CDC recommendations on hand washing.
- We change covers on our recliners after every patient.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow rather than your hands. If you sneeze or cough on your hands or into tissues or a handkerchief, please use hand sanitizer afterwards or wash.
- Avoid touching your mouth, nose, eyes and face with unwashed/non-sanitized hands.
We operate from a place of being smart, and caring for each other. We are paying close attention to updates and encourage you to stay vigilant in your self-care practices. Common sense and basic cold and flu season hygiene are the best resources at this point, so let's all give our best effort on those front!
We appreciate you!
